This piece is playing with the idea of the great cinematic Hollywood kiss meeting the call of the void. Haynes is interested in the narrative of female representation on screen, the endless, pointless ‘pursue be pursued’ chase of it all. Here this presents a kind of alternative film still: one of more horror than romance, and seemingly hopeless.
